GitBook allows you to create books in Markdown while integrating content from the internet. It offers optional synchronization with GitHub repositories. As it was originally created for technical documentation, it does not include as many functionalities as other tools for Open Educational Resources (OER).

Using GitBook to create open textbooks is particularly useful if you are familiar with GitHub and want to apply its functionalities, such as versioning and collaboration, to your book creation.
