GitHub offers a web-based platform and repository for version management of source code in software development projects. It is particularly suitable for Open Source projects. Version control is based on the distributed versioning system Git. Furthermore, it provides access control, bug tracking, task management and wikis for every project. GitHub also provides a Zenodo integration to archive a repository in a citable way, this means a DOI is assigned to the archive.
