How Registered Reports Function

Registered Reports are an extended form of pre-registration. They include a Peer Review of the suggested method in a journal, even before data collection and analysis have taken place. If the authors keep to the registered and accepted method, it is guaranteed that their papers are published in the journal.

The page “Registered Reports” from the Center for Open Science offers an overview of resources, including participating journals, practical information for all those involved and answers to frequently asked questions on registered reports. There are also sample Guidelines for authors and assessors available. Among the first entries, there are some examples of registered reports from economics and adjacent disciplines such as “Bridging the Gap: Evidence from externally hired CEOs”.
