Publish Code Yourself
Self-programmed code or software is just as much a research output as research articles or research data. If valuable code or software is not published and also not widely distributed, it can easily happen that you do not get the attention you deserve. You should therefore consider publishing code from previous research projects.
Firstly, when creating your code, you should ensure that you follow the points mentioned in the entry “Create your own open code.
You should also consider the following points when publishing:
- You should choose a suitable, trustworthy location for the publication.
- Check whether you can or want to define a release.
- Make your code citable.
- Select a suitable licence.
