RegCheck
RegCheck lets researchers, reviewers and editors check whether a published paper is consistent with its preregistration or study registration. Users upload both documents and choose which aspects to compare, such as hypotheses, sample or analyses. RegCheck extracts the relevant passages and assesses for each aspect whether the paper deviates from the plan. Every assessment is backed by verbatim quotes from both documents, so it can be verified directly. The result is a shareable report. The source code is open (AGPL-3.0), but the tool only works with commercial AI services.
⚠️ AI notice: RegCheck always uses OpenAI for text retrieval (embeddings). For the assessment, users choose a language model from OpenAI, Claude, DeepSeek or Groq. Text from the uploaded documents is sent to these providers. Details can be found in RegCheck’s privacy policy.
