Conferences, workshops, webinars: The year 2023 will again offer plenty of opportunities to approach the topic of Open Science in a very practical way and to seek contact with the community. So that the overview is not lost, the Open Economics Guide of the ZBW now offers a regularly updated calendar of events, which looks at the scene from a business studies and economics perspective.

Open Science Retreat: Reform on Research Assessment in the context of Open Science (Link)

Organized by: ZBW – Leibniz Information Centre for Economics

At the ZBW’s two-day Open Science Retreat, the focus is on mutual exchange with keynote speeches and discussions. The event is aimed at everyone who actively supports Open Science or is interested in the topic – whether they are scientists, people who work in science communication or are responsible for data, and others. To participate, a short online application is requested; the deadline for this is 3 March 2023.

Symposium: Open Science – research transparency in economics (Link) (German)

This year the first Open Science Symposium of the ZBW will take place in Berlin! The event is aimed specifically at everyone who works in German-speaking business studies and economics and is interested in the topic of research transparency – because the focus of the symposium is on the topics of reproducibility and replication. In the run-up to the symposium, there will also be a meet-up for Open Science enthusiasts from business studies and economics. The registration deadline is 17 April 2023.

Open Science Festival 2023 (Link)

Organized by: German National Library for Medicine (ZB MED) – Information Centre for Life Sciences

This summer Cologne is hosting the Open Science Festival, a two-day conference with a single subject: Open Science. Students, (young) scientists and research professionals are invited who would like to find out more about the topic of Open Science in keynotes and panel discussions. There is also a practical exchange in workshops and an open marketplace with information on current initiatives and services. The programme and registration options will follow soon.

The international Open Science Conference is celebrating its tenth anniversary in 2023: This year, the event again offers insights into practical and technical innovations that serve to implement Open Science, as well as insights into current developments in the global Open Science movement. Various calls are currently running – so if you want to actively help shape the programme, you can still make a submission until 3 March 2023.
